Met a whole bunch of great locals in Asheville, North Carolina last week. They all said that we couldn’t leave before having breakfast at The Sunny Point Cafe. Thing about me is when locals tell me to go eat somewhere, I go.
I liked this place immediately. Brought me back to my waiting table days when I always kind of wanted to review the rules of good restaurant etiquette when people felt the need to order their under-age kids drinks, or smack my butt for fun, or when a table of ten asked me over and over again to review the ten different salad dressings. Yes, rules are smart.
The artwork of the place brought me right back to my favorite childhood picture books and you know that I appreciate that. I also love when a business picks a really cheery vibe because it makes the entire experience that much better.
Sunny Point also has gorgeous gardens to peruse while you wait for your table making this whole wait time part of the experience.
I had the Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo. It had kind of a twist to it, served on a couple of black bean cakes with this really tasty green chili sauce, and a cilantro sour cream. If I could I’d fly back to North Carolina right now to have some more. It was that good.
Here’s the recipe!
