Back Again…

I find myself hitting the same old hikes time after time.

You see, no hike is really the same.  The landscape plays games with perception.

Lunch depends on the mood and weather.  It depends on how organized I am.  But no matter what, it always tastes better outside.

Will I ever tire of these hikes? I don’t think so.  They are like reading a favorite book and finding another passage that blows your mind.

Favorite hiking quotes:

“Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb.”
– Greg Child

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
– John Muir

“After a day’s walk everything has twice its usual value.”
– George Macauley Trevelyan

“If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking.  Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk.”
– Raymond Inmon

Loved today’s post Julie. Now I’m struggling to keep my a*^ in my chair. I want to walk!

  2. Amen to that! I have one more chapter of my middle grade to do and then errands for the last day of school. Doesn’t seem like summer should be here, but it is.

  4. Love how the quotes for hiking mirror writing. :-) Back to the mountain for me…

  5. Lorri Sommer says:

I, too have a favorite hike, right near my home. Unfortunately, I haven’t been brave enough to hike it for some time because there is a pervert that has been caught exposing himself to people on the trail several times in the last year or so. He reportedly also told police that he has violent sexual fantasies. Sheesh! What a world.

  6. Um, what? Here is Maine? You must send me more info about that. Don’t want to take the kids there!
