I can’t think of a better way to spend April Fool’s Day than promoting a book based on lies. The King of Lies by John Hart was my vacation read this past month when I was hanging out on Pine Island. It was a totally absorbing read, full of twists and turns. Told from the point of view of Jackson “Work” Pickens, a self-absorbed Southern lawyer, this mystery centers around a dysfunctional family and the death of his father, Ezra. Hart lets his story unfold with such restraint that I simply couldn’t put it down. This is a coming of age novel wrapped with true conflict that burns through each page. Perfect for a day at the beach or a long plane ride.
Speaking of April Fool’s Day. I’m celebrating this Nor’ Easter by wearing my new sandals. Check them out:

Cute sandals. I like the polish too. The Nor’easter dropped a couple inches of slush on us. I cannot believe school was canceled.
We were canceled too… victims of the hype!
