I’ll admit it. I can be self-indulgent. Case in point, my lunch last week. Yes, all of you locals no exactly where this puppy is from- Reds! It’s my favorite. I love the crunch of the nut, slightly salty, against the warm fudge and peanut butter sauce that is carefully resting on the light vanilla ice cream. Delicious.
Now, there is one thing writers love even more than ice cream. You guessed it, writing retreats. Ever been to one? Basically they work like this-you find a little paradise where a bunch of like souls get together and spend the ENTIRE weekend focused on work. We have happy hours where we sip wine and talk about craft, tension, querying, and conflict! We sit around listening to experts dissect first pages weekend! We talk about people who use way too many exclamation points! Oops, that would be me.
No, writers’ retreats are the total self-indulgences of a writer. Mine starts tomorrow. I can’t wait. I’m ready to immerse myself in work. True decadence.
PS- Notice how I kept mum about time and place. My secret. Can’t lose my spot for next year. Just kidding, I’ll tell you all about it on Monday.
Yes, writing retreats are a piece of paradise. I agree. Have fun and come back to us soon.
PS Did we see you on TV when Red’s reopened? Carroll thought he did, anyways.
I hope you enjoy your weekend retreat as much as you must have enjoyed that scrumptious looking ice-cream.
