The Best French Onion Soup Ever & More

Soup.

Soup must be one of the nicest fall foods there is.

It simmers on the stove all day.  It gives you time to make stuff that goes with soup.  It inspires you to actually call people up and say, “Come over for some soup. It’s no big deal.  Just soup.”

I stinken’ love soup once the bite of fall hits the air and the leaves start to turn.  I can’t resist it.

We started with some wine from Scratch Bakery.  Wish I’d actually taken a full picture of the name, but let me assure you that most wines from Scratch are super tasty.

Whip up a big loaf of bread from your bread machine- so simple, yet so satisfying.

I used Cooks Illustrated French Onion Soup recipe from Cookography.  This chick has amazing graphics.  She’s obviously the blogging professional.  When I made the soup, I kind of worried that my onions were getting too brown, but worry not.  It’s all flavor.

Could’ve used more cheese…

Light some candles.

Finish with a fresh apple pie baked in a forty year old cast iron skillet.

Yum!
